Gaspar Noé
Gaspar Noé is a well-known controversial film maker and producer, majority seen through his 2010 film, Enter the Void. Noé brings up very ‘real’ sides to cinemaphotography which includes sexually explicit film as well as film based on drugs and the ‘trip’ that your brain can go through, thus being controversial and a risk taker. As well as being a well-known controversial creator, Noé has a large reputation within neon strobe and ultra-violence.
Gaspar Noé creates a unique ‘way of seeing’ in Enter the Void through the use of a POV camera shot as well as subjective shots. Besides the use of camera angles. Bradshaw (2010) expresses Enter the Void as a “grandiose hallucinatory journey into, and out of, hell: drugged, neon-lit and with a fully realised nightmare-porn aesthetic.”, This film has had major criticism due to its realism and what has been proven to be correct. The film is a rape-revenge filled, ultra-violet and ultra-extreme movie, with an excessive shock expression. Gaspar Noé uses ambient soundscapes and murky styled lighting to express the use of explicit sex and violence shown in his film.

Reflection
Within this film, I focused on the work of Gaspar Noé, and his 2010 Enter the Void. To do this, I focused on the idea of drug usage and what happens to the user within their vision, I used both POV shots and subjective shots to achieve the users view of the night and others around them, leaning more towards the POV shot towards the end. Whilst thinking about what to film in this assignment, I came up with many ideas of how to see from a person’s perspective, though I did not take into account the storyline behind the film. After doing so I preceded to record as much as I could when going out for the night, in this film I do include a scene where the character that it follows has had her drink spiked, not to worry, nothing was spiked. After filming all the footage needed, I began editing which began around 15 minutes of filming in total, eventually I edited and cut down to roughly 6 minutes, after which I really began struggling how to fit everything in. I have sped most scenes up, as well as blurring the image to show viewers how drugs can affect the eye vision, which is an idea which I gained from Gaspar Noé. After all the editing had been completed, last was the music to add and at first I was so lost in what to put until a friend recommended a Lo-Fi style of music, and after searching for about 30 minutes I had found the best fitting song to give off the relaxed but stressful expression of my film through Nymano’s ‘I wish I Could Sleep’ song.
